Shelly Gomez is a 1st-generation college graduate who earned her B.A. in Women and Gender Studies (2018) and her Masters in Education at Sonoma State University (2021). As a higher education professional, Shelly is committed to fostering a sense of belonging to all students, emphasizing serving underrepresented communities. Prior to entering SSU, Shelly earned her Children in the Justice System Certificate at the Santa Rosa Junior College and worked several years in the Criminal Justice Field. She has extensive experience working with foster youth and formerly incarcerated youth. Previously, she served as a Site Manager in a residential group home and as a Juvenile Corrections Counselor with the Sonoma County Probation Department. Shelly is passionate about supporting students with minoritized identities and assisting in initiatives and support services that promote personal development and academic success. She is honored to have been chosen as the Seawolf Scholars Manager and is excited to serve the foster youth community.
